Dental Assistant interview questions:

Dental assistants play a multifaceted role that encompasses both administrative responsibilities and patient care duties. The specific requirements for this position can vary depending on location. In some instances, a high school diploma suffices, while in others, candidates must graduate from an accredited training program. A CPR certification is typically a mandatory requirement.

The complexity of the role can fluctuate based on regulatory standards. Qualified dental assistants, in addition to performing administrative and sanitation tasks, may also be authorized to conduct procedures such as coronal polishing, sealant application, and operate x-ray equipment. It’s important to tailor your interview questions according to the specific role you’re seeking, whether it’s for unlicensed dental assistants, registered dental assistants (RDAs), or those with expanded functions (EFDAs).

When interviewing RDAs or EFDAs, allocate time to assess their technical expertise. Key soft skills that hold significance for dental assistants include keen attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and effective interpersonal skills. It’s crucial to ensure that the candidate can follow instructions and communicate proficiently. Operational and Situational questions:

  • Can you outline the distinctions in your approach when dealing with children as compared to adults during dental procedures?

Behavioral questions:

  • Provide an example of an instance when you explained a dental procedure to a patient.
