Web developers play a pivotal role in designing, coding, and enhancing web pages and online applications. When seeking the right candidates, prioritize those with comparable experience and exceptional coding abilities. The ideal candidate should exhibit a deep passion for software development and provide tangible evidence of their work through a portfolio of applications. As part of the assessment, consider assigning candidates a task that closely aligns with the position’s requirements to gauge if their performance aligns with your company’s needs.

For positions in computer science, it’s advantageous to identify candidates with a strong desire to learn and an ongoing interest in technological advancements. Inquire about how they stay updated on current industry trends and whether they participate in relevant seminars. Active engagement in technical forums or involvement in side projects, such as game development, signifies a curious and inquisitive candidate for your web developer role.

Computer Science questions:

  • What is a ‘MIME type,’ and what is its purpose? Can you offer an example?
  • Please elaborate on the advantages and disadvantages of CSS animations compared to JavaScript animations.
  • What sets HTML and XHTML apart from each other?
  • It’s commonly recommended to place CSS between <head> and JavaScript just before </body>. Could you explain why this is advisable, and are there any exceptions to this rule that you’re aware of?

Behavioral questions:

  • Share an experience when a program you created encountered issues and didn’t run as expected. How did you go about troubleshooting your code?
  • Could you describe an enjoyable project you’ve been involved in recently?
