To ensure the success of your recruitment process for this role, it’s vital to identify experienced candidates who possess organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently. This job can occasionally be challenging or tiring, so it’s advisable to focus on candidates who exhibit a proactive “can do” attitude and approach their work with positivity.

In addition to assessing candidates’ knowledge and experience in cleaning tasks, it’s equally crucial to gauge their work ethic, especially given that they often operate in spaces where employees’ personal belongings and company assets are situated. Remember to inquire about candidates’ availability, considering the possibility of work hours spanning weekends and involving early mornings or late-night shifts.

Operational and Situational questions:

  • What types of cleaning products do you typically use?
  • How do you approach the cleaning of computer screens? In your estimation, how much time would you require to clean a workspace consisting of 5 offices?
  • Have you ever employed environmentally friendly cleaning products? If so, how would you compare them to the conventional products you’ve used?
  • When cleaning a bathroom, what tasks do you consider most essential? Is there a specific task you refrain from due to allergies or other reasons?
  • Could you describe your approach to handling cleaning-related emergencies? Could you share a few instances from your past experiences?
  • Do you possess experience with outdoor cleaning tasks?
  • How flexible are your working hours? Would you be open to early morning or late-night shifts?
  • How would you address cleaning different materials such as wood, marble, or granite?
  • Are you acquainted with cleaning machinery? Could you provide examples of devices you’ve utilized before?
  • If you came across a personal item without knowing its owner, what steps would you take?
  • When faced with the need to move heavy furniture for vacuuming, how do you proceed?
  • Are you well-versed in health and safety precautions?

Behavioral questions:

  • What task have you found to be the most frustrating in your past roles?
  • Share a scenario in which you went above and beyond to complete an unconventional task.
  • Do you lean towards working collaboratively in a team or working independently?
  • Have you ever witnessed a colleague engaging in theft? How did you handle the situation?
