When hiring a Bank Teller, it’s essential to seek candidates with a solid understanding of banking products or a genuine interest in banking and the ability to quickly learn on the job. Preferably, candidates should have prior experience in customer-facing roles and handling cash. However, if such experience is lacking, consider candidates who are organized, intelligent, empathetic, and excel in interpersonal interactions.

Additionally, these questions are designed to assess candidates’ communication skills, as Bank Tellers must enjoy engaging with people and meet sales goals.

  • How would you go about selling a specific bank product to a customer?
  • If a customer declined your offer, how would you manage the situation?
  • Define cross-selling and elaborate on its importance in the banking industry.
  • What steps would you take if you were falling behind in meeting your weekly goals?
  • Can you explain the teller cash outage policy from your previous employer?
  • Given that this job can be repetitive, what motivates you, and how can we keep you motivated?
