# Importing Existing Employee Data
Migrating from another system? Hirebee makes it easy to import your existing employee records.
## Supported Formats
- **CSV files** — Most common, works with any spreadsheet app
- **Excel (.xlsx)** — Direct import from Microsoft Excel
- **JSON** — For technical teams with API exports
## Step-by-Step Import
1. Go to **HR Dashboard > Employee Management**
2. Click **Import Employees** in the top-right
3. Download the template file
4. Fill in your employee data following the column headers
5. Upload the completed file
6. Review the preview and fix any validation errors
7. Click **Confirm Import**
## Field Mapping
The import wizard automatically maps common fields:
- Full name, email, phone
- Department, job title, start date
- Salary and employment type
For custom fields, use the manual mapping screen to match your columns.
## Tips
- Start with a small batch (10-20 employees) to test
- Ensure email addresses are unique
- Date formats should be YYYY-MM-DD
- Required fields: first name, last name, email
## After Import
- Review imported profiles for accuracy
- Send invitation emails to let employees set up their accounts
- Set up department assignments and reporting structure
